What is the First Robotics Challenge (FRC)?
F.I.R.S.T. stands for For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology. It is a competition that was designed by Dean Kamen. Dean decided to start this program to get students to look at the areas of Science and Technology like they do professional sports teams. The FRC is a challenge for high school students who team up with teachers and area professionals. Each year at the beginning of January a "problem" is revealed. For the next six weeks the season is in full force. Students and mentors then spend those six weeks working on strategy, design, fabrication, assembly, and testing...lots and lots of testing. Then they compete in regional and national competitions against other schools. It is an awesome experience. Visit the F.I.R.S.T. website below for more information.
